The NEtWorking for Change Project

The Equality and Human Rights Commisson (EHRC) was formally established in October 2007.

In order to provide a 'voice' and capacity, the NEtWorking for Change Project (NfC) was launched in December 2005, building a connected network covering the six equality strands:

  • Race
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Disability
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Religion or Belief
  • Transgender

...NfC now has over 700 members from all sectors including the public, private, social enterprise, voluntary and community. It has a specfic section to support learning providers.

Membership is broad and includes those who have experienced discrimination and/or support those experiencing discrimination as well as those people who represent strand interests and workplace equality agendas.

The networks are employment focused and:

  • Work to identify the barriers facing minority groups through networking, consultation and research
  • work to combat discrimination in employment and entry into employment
  • advise, educate and share best practice between members
  • provide a strong, regional voice

NfC membership is currently free and is open to anyone, with or without experience of discrimination or exclusion.

NfC is for everyone who believes in fighting inequality.

Membership benefits include:

  • participation in E&D research and consultation programmes
  • networking and connecting with like minded people
  • qualification for discounted Equality North East training and consultancy
  • qualification for discounted Equality North East events
  • a conduit into the North East Equality and Diversity Board – and ultimately the EHRC – giving you an opportunity to have your voice heard.

To join the NfC Project and participate in any of the ‘strand’ networks simply complete the application form signifying your ‘strand’ interests and return to Equality North East.
